Don't Sell..... Give Them Information!

The whole catch to the Internet is this... people don't shop online. People research and get information online. The Internet is called the Information Super Highway because people are there to get information.

Your job is to lure them in with information, show them the benefits of your product and convince them that your product is worth money.

If you are selling information, you have to convince them that your information is worth money compared to all the free stuff that is out there. If you are selling a product or a service, you have to convince them that YOUR product or service will be a solution to THEIR problem.

If you are going to be selling some kind of product or service online, you have to offer great information at your site to attract them. Why should they stay at your site if you are just trying to sell them something? They have another 300 results in a search engine to go through and they will just click to the next website if they see you are not giving them the information they want… and just trying to sell them something.

People don't want to be "sold" online... they want to be educated about whatever they are searching for online. Then, you have to show them why your product or service solves their problem.

If you are selling health products online, you have to attract them through information on health. For example, provide information on health techniques that do work and those that do not. Supply them with information about vitamins, exercise or eating habits, or diets. Maybe you have information on all the various health myths that are out there. Give them great resources and great information and they will believe in you. Then you can lead them from that information into buying your product.

I can't stress this enough. This is critically important to building a successful business online.

People are searching for information online. It may be researching a solution to a problem they have (like weight loss, health, a problem with their child). They may be researching a product and want to get information to make a wise buying decision. Or they might be surfing for information on a hobby, interest, or just for entertainment.

Your goal is to attract your target market into your site with the information they are looking for. Then, as you build rapport and credibility with the visitor, educate them and show them why your product or service is a solution to their problem.

Don't give it away right away that you are selling a product or service.

Hide the fact that you are selling a product or service and give them lots of information. By giving them information you are building credibility and building rapport. When that person believes in you, you will make the sale.

If you are trying to sell a product online by just putting up a plain brochure, you will fail. I mean it…you will fail!

What is going to happen is that someone will search under health in the search engines, they are going to pull up over 3000 sites. Let's say you are listed in the top 10 or 20, they'll go to your site and will immediately see the big guarantee button you have at the bottom and they'll see "Order Now for your $20 discount" statement you have. They'll see the big beautiful pictures of your product and that all you have at your site is stuff for sale. It will take them about two seconds to skip to the next site because they are looking for information… not to buy something.

Your job is to convince them why your product is worth money and why your product is going to solve their problem. You won't even get a chance to tell them this unless they believe in you and you have already built credibility and rapport.

And how do you do it?

By giving them information! That's what they are looking for online. That's why they are surfing.

Since you know they are looking for information... give it to them!

Here are a couple of ideas. Let's stay with the weight loss scenario. People are searching for different solutions to their problem. You could have a website and a few articles that summarize all their research in one site so they don't have to search anywhere else online. You could have a review section that would go through the top 10 ways people are losing weight. Write a review on each product or program and offer the pros and cons to each; including the price of each. If you have done your research and truly have a great product/program for weight loss, it will be clear why your product or program for weight loss is the best and most affordable solution.

After you have created credibility and rapport by giving them the information they wanted, then and only then, do you take them over to your product or service and show them why your product/service is a solution to their problem.

That's how you make money online. And so many people don't get it!

By putting up a big splash and having Order Now in big flashing GIF and big Money Back Guarantee and Free Bonuses and all that kind of stuff you are simply scaring people away!

Don't be flamboyant with this stuff. Hide it! You want to be flamboyant with all your free information and how you are educating people and how you have lots of good articles and resources and research. Don't be flamboyant with your product because people won't stay at your website for two seconds.

Even if you have a high rating on the Search Engines, or have links from other people, once they see that you are selling something they are going to go to another site. They have 2999 other sites to visit. Why should they stay at your site when all you are trying to do is sell them something? Would you?

Give them information. Build credibility. Then sell them your product.
